Meet the Team
Hello, I'm Rags!
As the mascot for Emotions at Play, you will see me popping up all over the place!
I have an extremely important job; to be a good friend and help children through new experiences, big feelings and challenges.

My fun activities are weaved throughout each story, with a game, sensory activity, simple craft, science experiment and arty idea within each story book.

Hi, I'm Gillian
I'm a play & creative arts therapist and mum to three teenagers.

The idea for Emotions at Play came about through my experiences as a mum, and with the amazing young people and families I have worked with over the years. I'm a firm believer that the very best, and most developmentally appropriate way to help children with their emotions is through play and creativity, and that the most important playmates are the parents and carers. Emotions at Play aims to bring all of this together to support our young people as they grow.

As a child, I was never happier than when I was scribbling away in my notebook, and nothing has really changed there!
Emotions at Play allows me to spend time in my creative 'happy place' and i'm extremely grateful for that.

Hello, I'm Sarah
I'm an award winning Children's book and brand specialist living by a big river with a tribe of furbabies!
I am the owner of Happydesigner, A slightly quirky, yet very different, and refreshingly approachable design and illustration studio. I have been providing authors with a unique, one-stop service for designing, illustrating and producing children’s books & brands for almost two decades. (makes me feel old when I type that!)
Over the years I have been proud and privileged to provide my ideas and services to individuals, publishers, companies and agencies from all across the world.

When Im not found glued to my desk, I love nothing more than chilling out with my fur family! As with 5 guinea pigs, 2 cats and a hubster, there's always something to do!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
JAYNE, TEACHER
As a teacher, I love the concept of Emotions at Play. Let's help children to understand their emotions at the earliest opportunity and help them to be school ready.
STEPH, MUM OF 3
What a fantastic idea for helping children to talk about their emotions. I can't wait for the first books to land. I think i'll collect them all!
ANNA, THERAPIST
I always recommend 1:1 playtime at home to parents because it has so many benefits. Emotions at Play is a wonderful way to address experiences and feelings in a developmentally appropriate way for young children.
